EuroGateway (v1.2.4)

IEC 61850 compliant communication gateway

The EuroGateway device is a communication gateway between the Substation Automation System (SAS) and a remote process control (SCADA) system and also between the substation devices and one or more, local or remote display (srHMI) workstations. The configuration tool of the gateway is the EuroStation application.

The EuroGateway hardware is produced by Protecta; software program has been developed by SoftReal.

Based on functionality, the following versions of the EuroGateway device are available:

EG-C, EG-S and EG-C+S models are built on the EG-B base model.

EG-B (EuroGateway-Base)

EG-B configuration

The EG-B base model contains the following functions:

The firewall and network gateway of EG-B safely separates the local LAN from the external LAN and at the same time it supports remote management of the devices on the local LAN from the external LAN. This function can be also configured with the EuroStation program.

The EG-B device collects the state of the local LAN switch ports with SNMP messages. You can use the signal strength and temperature of an optical port to prevent it from malfunctions. The EG-B model can present information on its web interface or on a srHMI display workstation; the EG-C model can send collected data as signal and analog information in supervisory direction.

The EG-B device receives and interprets the IEC 61850 GOOSE (Ethernet broadcast) messages. Checks continuous presence of messages; it signals loss of messages; furthermore it extracts transmitted signals from the messages which can be compared with signals transmitted in reports. The EG-B model can present information on its web interface or on a srHMI display workstation; the EG-C model can send collected data as signal and analog information in supervisory direction.

The EG-B device provides temporary storage and access for disturbance records collected from the protection devices. The EG-B model also presents information on its web interface. The srFTP program can transfer disturbance records to a central storage, even from more EuroGateway devices. The royalty-free srHMI display workstation offers integrated access to disturbance records on its interface, even from more EuroGateway devices, even in offline session (without a license). We offer the srEval program for evaluating disturbance records and the royalty-free srPrintRec program for printing them.

EG-C (EuroGateway-Com)

EG-C configuration

The EG-C model is a communication gateway between the substation devices and a remote process control (SCADA) system.

The communication with the remote SCADA system can be an IEC 60870-5-104 or Modbus over TCP/IP LAN connection, or an IEC 60870-5-101 or Modbus RTU serial line connection. In every case the EG-C is the server.

LAN and serial line connection are both available with the local devices. Substation network protocols:

EG-C serial lines

The EG-C device supports the following local serial line protocols:

EG-S (EuroGateway-SCADA)

EG-S configuration

The EG-S model contains an embedded local SCADA program. Presentation is carried out by the srHMI program, either as a local or as a remote display workstation.

The local SCADA functions of EG-S are the followings:
